NEC-HE-shrine Re: Star Parodier

OK, so I can understand there's a bit of scepticism about these FSS
screenshots, so here's the story -

I got an email from guy who who said -'I used to do some testing for
Turbo Technologies, and have a copy of Fantasy Star Soldier,
completely translated in English. It did exist, but the timing for
release couldn't have been worse. Not too long before its' expected
release, TT went under, so the game was never to be seen by American
gamers (unless they imported it.)'

When I asked for either screen shots or manual scans the reply was '
No manual, it was a burned copy from TTI. I was actually doing final
testing on it, (checking for misspelling and translation goofs...)
but the timing sucked. I'll see what I can do about screen grabs.'
I was then emailed a zip file containing 81 screen grabs from Magic
Engine. Naturally, the translation doesn't really affect much of the
game (mainly title screen and options). I considered that the pics
may have been doctored to look like a translated version (and I still
keep an open mind about it), but I find this doubtful for the
following reasons:
- The 'speed level' on all the in game screens in in English. Now, if
I wanted to fool somebody, I would certainly not put in so much
effort to add this to so many screengrabs (from start to end of the
game). I would have just done a small selection. It just seems like a
hellava lot of effort (81 screens!) for nothing.
- FSS is hardly the holy grail of Engine games (like SFZ). Sure, pics
of a translated version are interesting, but not mind blowing.
- I have checked out many of the in game shots carefully in
Photoshop, in case there is any sign of 'tampering' where the speed
is displayed (stray pixels, position shifting etc). I can find no
evidence here.

However, there are some points against this:
- I was not supplied with a shot of the 'Bomber Man' end of level pic
(which contained much Japanese text.)
- I was not supplied with shots of the 'end of game' from the easy
difficulty setting. If I remember right, this also had some Japanese
on it.

I'll request these, and see what happens.
