It's the same in America guys -- what music section is ALWAYS next to the
register in the records stores?  Rap, b/c 'black people are theives'.
Japanese culture has always been behind western by a few decades -- the
birth control pill just became illegal 2 years ago, as well as statutory
rape becoming illegal last year.

If your friend gets replied to in English ALL the time, perhaps his Japanese
isn't quite hot enough.  Sometimes you get those people who will "dazzle you
with there 10 words of English" but I usually give them an ugly look and
make it clear that I'm not interested in being used as an English toy. :)  I
never have that problem in Akihabara though.

  too,like you,he has heard stuff like you have heard...in a videogame
  shop( medialand :)) a clerk to another one:

  of course,they couldn't think my friend speaks PERFECTLY japanese

  this is how they see us....


  france is one of the "priority" destinations japanese ppl go...i never
  told such thing when i see some japanese boys&girls in paris..
