Re: NEC-HE-shrine From my source...
Sorry if I seemed a little ticked, ranma : ) It wasn't directed at you, I just get tired of hearing this stuff about Sega going under, Sega being purchased by Nintendo (remind me never to buy the New York Times), ect. when there's no solid basis for it.
Except for Zelda and Pokemon, the N64 got the living crap kicked out of it in Japan but it thrived in the U.S. Sound familiar? Same thing with the DC. A system can survive easily outside of Japan. SOJ's president recently said in an interview they will keep making systems. So that ends that rumour. This rumour has been getting tossed around all year. Why? Just a bunch of misinformed Sony fanboys praying for Sega's demise like the idiots they are. Sony and NEC forever? Uh, no. Sega, Nintendo and NEC forever. Sony has no in house talent. They just buy development houses. Sega and Nintendo make *games* and and unlike Sony, have legendary designers. Is there a Yu Suzuki, a Yuji Naka, or a Shigeru Miyamoto at Sony's in house? Nobody even close. Sony forever? I hope Sony gets sliced off at its knees in the U.S. by the X-Box. Sure, the X-Box is no better but maybe it would teach Sony to make a better system in the future, on that has 4 controller ports, and one that's cheaper and easier to develop for. Sony is like the Working Designs of console manufacturers. They put out a few good games once in awhile but like WD, they're basically just a relocation house for 3rd parties IMHO. Isn't it ironic that people and news sites keep saying Sega's games like Sonic will show up on other systems when SONY'S best properties like MGS2, Spyro, and Crash Bandicoot are being made for the X-Box?

Who's this source? Sounds like bologna to me, but who knows.
The latest I read (on this side of the world) is that they've already started
developing their next machine

Why wont there be a successor to the Dreamcast? Oh well, I know Sega makes
wonderful software and consoles but I never cared to much for Sega. Sony and
NEC all the way. To bad NEC won't make another system, I would buy it even if
it did fail, again. John
