NEC-HE-shrine YS 4 DAWN OF YS stuck in lefance shrine any ideas

Hi,

im stuck in the lefance shrine in DAWN OF YS on the pc engine, i have 
a walkthrough guide but it says the woman who blocks the left passage 
will let you through when you talk to her.
This doesnt seem to work ive tried going as back as far as i can to 
see if i missed a few items but no luck.

please help as ive tried everything i can think of.
