Re: [NEC_Avenue] Re: Worst TG16/PCE games
I feel that the Turbo's potential was missed most of the time with some lazy programmers. There's alot of games that could've had smooth paralax, or atleast SOME paralax scrolling, like in Strider. It's a ficken Arcade CD. Yeah, if you compare it to the Gen version, there is more detail in the graphics themselves, but, with no paralax. Heck, just the fact that the Turbo's Arcade card, loads 18 megabits in one level(that includes the music), & the Gen version is 8 megabits, shows me that some of the programmers were lazy. Technically, they could've loaded the whole Gen version in one shot(if they didn't use redbook audio). Just something to think about. BTW, Ys 1 & 2, also has some of that crappy scrolling. Remember when you are going up the bell tower? In the sideview parts, it scrolls the same crappy way. --- "Groovemutt <xxxxxx@yahoo.com>" <xxxxxx@yahoo.com> wrote: > --- In xxxxxx@yahoogroups.com, > > >You have a point on a lot of those games. > >Ys 3's music and voice actors are also my favorite > parts. > >You're also right about most games having their > good points too. > >I think the SNES Ys 3 plays better and offers > better challenge but, > >even with that it can't replace the TG16 version. > >I do remember a few places where the scrolling was > smooth and I > >always wondered why the programmers didn't take > time to do every > >area that way. > >Had they done every part of Ys 3 in smooth > scrolling I would have > >adored the game which I do like but, find > dissapointing at times. > >What happend to me the first time I played Ys 3 was > that I tried > >to ignore the negative points and basicly pretend > they didn't exist > >but, denial is not a state of mind that can be > maintained for very > >long with a picky and critical person like myself. > >I still like Ys 3 but, when I play it I feel a > bitter sadness and > >disgust toward the programmers for making it that > way. > >As an Ys title I feel that the game diserved > better. > >To me it's as though they had little or no respect > for the game or > >it's many fans. > >I also have a problem with the SNES version because > of it being > >a cartridge rather than a CD. > >As a CD for another system maybe they would've > corrected their > >previous mistakes since they couldn't go back and > redo the Turbo-CD > >version. > >All though things like that don't happen they > should've made a > >public apology then setout to redo Ys 3 for PCE and > TG16 and sale it > >at half the price of the original in order to make > up for putting us > >through that. > >I've seen other games from other companies rushed > and thrown > >too.
