A mysterious device

When i bought my PC Engine i also got a device that i cannot identify. i
assume it is some form of memory bank. It attches to the controller port,
has a sticker on the front which has spaces to write information, it takes
4 AA batteries and has the following model nomuber on the back
KH -1001 and below that NO. 930201. If someone could tell me what it is and
perhaps email me a manual for it i would appreciate it.
It is also not for sale. I try not to sell anything unless i have multiple
copies of it.
I am however looking for a famicom system (original only no pirates)
preferably a system two (with AV and detachable controllers). I do not care
if it has the box and manual but that would be great. I do want the RF and
the AC adapter.
One last question for everyone, do i need a device to condition or step down
the voltage in america to keep from frying my japanese systems, i have quite
a few and don't want to damage them. Especially not my PC engine as it is
the centerpiece of my collection

thanks in advance
