I disagree, here in Japan if you are willing to really look (especially out side Tokyo's Akihabara)
you can find lot's of "dead stock" (as they call it) in small out-of-the-way game and toy shops.
However, you can not always get bargains - example : this week I turned down brand new SG, Core I &
II, and a bunch of games because the guy at the small toy shop wanted "original retail price" for
everything (i.e. SG $400.00; games $67.00).
But sometimes it is worth paying out the a** if you find something you never saw before. That's how
I got the Illust Booster and Photo Reader and Artist Tool. All expensive, but after 71/2 years of
looking for them I would have paid double, and been happy about it!
