They are two completely different games. Castlevania: Nocturne in the
Moonlight for the Saturn is basically the same as Castlevania: Symphony of
the Night on the Plystation, the differences being remixed tunes, a couple
of new areas and a playable Maria (Richter is also playable from the
beginning rather than after the game is beaten). The gameplay of the two is
actually quite different. In the Saturn and PSX game, you basically make
your way through the non-linear Castle, collecting items (as Alucard
anyway) and defeating bosses as you come accross them. The game pace is
much more akin to Castlevania II: Simon's Quest than any other Castlevania
game. Dracula X for the PCE, on the other hand, is much more like the
original Castlevania (or III, IV, Bloodlines, etc.) in that it is
level-based; you go through a long, linear level at the end of which is the
boss confrontation.

In all sense & purpose, Castlevania: Nocturne in the Moonlight (or Symphony
of the Night) is the *TRUE* sequel to Dracula X on the PCE (the opening
Prologue is in reference to the final confrontation between Richter and
Dracula at the end of the PCE Dracula X), but they are in no way the same
game.
