That depends.  :)
If you are talking about "fewest total units in the world", then maybe the
Kisado adapter qualifies - there are fewer than 500 units worldwide.  :)

But then, if you are talking about "hard to find", probably the "Print
Booster", "Photo Reader", and "Illust Booster" qualify.  The only
commercial software these worked with was the "Artist Tool" HuCard (which
itself was quite rare).  But these may also have worked with some
development tools for the system.

There was also the SuperGrafx "Power Console", which had special features
only suitable for "Battle Ace".... (not many units ever made of this, either).

Then again, in the "nearly a product" category, the PCE modem may qualify
(I think this may have been called the "Tsushin Booster").  They had demo
units, but they never went into volume production.  I have seen pictures,
but nobody I know has one (similar to the SCSI adapter, but it was a more
professional appearance).
