That is not the first time for me either. My mom works at Toys R Us as
manager and she frequently have to handle customers who doesn't know much
about video games. Here's a few examples that makes you wonder if
someone forgot to upgrade the customer's brain from stone age to 20th
century technologies. ((You might want to get a clean underwear just in
case))
(Sometime in '87 or '88) One time, a customer brought back a few Atari
2600 game cart & complained it doesn't fit in their Nintendo system.
Wha...??? Apparently the customer has an Atari 7800 (which can take 2600
games) and thought Nintendo was a replacement for 7800.
('95) A customer left Toys R Us, fuming because Toys R Us no longer
carried Intellivision games. He must be related to Rip Van Winkle
because TRU hasn't had any Intellivision stuff for almost a decade.
('96) The customer tried to return Star Tropics for 8 bit NES because it
didn't work. Turns out the customer didn't know Super NES and 8 bit NES
are not the same thing. DUH!!!
('97) Someone found a very dusty game box for Vasteel for TurboGrafx.
But he didn't know about TG-16 and was asking if it works on PSX or
Saturn. When he was told it's for TurboGrafx 16 system, he wanted to buy
that system but it was discontinued a few years earlier. He left the
game and went to get a PSX game instead. I ended up getting that game
for myself for only 99 cents. (plus 6 cents tax)
If you think TRU is a strange place, wait till you hear this: a couple
months ago, I found a new and unopened X Band modem for SNES. Since the
company no longer supported X band, it was worthless and I got it for
free. No one knows how or why it was still around 2 years after it was
discontinued.
