Well I don't live in Tokyo or Yokohama, but when I was stationed in Japan
with the Navy, I used to go to Yokohama like 4 times a week at least, and
Tokyo every now and then. For video games, just go to Akihabara in Tokyo. I
told another person on the list about a multi-floored used game shop next to
the Laox Computer shop. They had some great stuff--still can't believe I
passed on that copy of Alien Soldier for Mega Drive!! There are also a good
number of anime shops around there as well.
In Yokohama, I used to always go to the Yellow Submarine game shop. It's
really hard to tell you how to find it. It's like on the 5 floor of this
building across from the shopping center with the HMV not far from Yokohama
station. Just keep an eye out for a little yellow sign that says "Yellow
Submarine." A block down and around the corner from there, there's a Manga no
Mori (Manga Forest.) Great for manga and artbooks and such. On the other side
of Yokohama station there's a building across from the Post Office that
houses an Animate shop on the second floor. Animate is a great place to get
anime and related merchandise. Another great shopping place that has a few
used game shops is in the Kannai district of Yokohama. There's a long outdoor
mall of sorts there. Like a long street with no cars with a lot of shops.
There's a huge bookstore, a Virgin Music Megastore and a number of good used
game shops and anime shops (I got my copy of Gals Panic SS from one of them.)
And if you go down near the end, there is a movie theater called "The Oscar"
that frequently shows anime.
Hope I helped
