Re: Future of turbo collecting

Collecting by definition is all about
acquiring something that interests you. That is
the beauty of collecting video games, you can
play them and they wont lose value as long as
you take care of them(aside from the value you
lose once you take off the shrinkwrap). Not too
many collectibles can be used without
destroying their value. Try "using" stamps. I
have collected over 100 laser discs very few
are worth anything with the introduction of
DVD. Video games are different- Each system has
its unique strengths that may not be duplicated
with the 'newer' systems.
Different genres also become less popular-
2D games in particular. Think about all the new
gamer that never saw Metal Slug, Bonk,
Cyberbots, Metroid, Tempest, Salamander or
Snatcher.
Collecting games is like being able to walk
down memory lane with an old girlfriend. There
was a reason that you moved on but there were
those special moments that you will remember
forever.
I personally think your collection is worth
holding on to- even if only to show your future
kids were gaming came from. Plus it takes up
only(in your case) room in your closet.
I KNOW YOU WANT TO KEEP THEM ANYWAY BECAUSE
IF YOU WOULD HAVE ASKED YOUR WIFE WHO DOESNT
SHARE THE SAME INTEREST, YOU WOULD HAVE GOTTEN
A COMPLETLY DIFFERENT ANSWER THAN THOSE GIVEN
BY FELLOW GAMERS ;]
