There's a code (enter "KONAMI" into the computer) that's supposed to return
the US version to it's japanese state. But I tried it, and there was no
difference that I saw. But I'm also not sure if there's a certain point in
the game you have to put it in. And if anyone's wondering, this is the Sega
CD version (the only version they made for the US) so I apologize for being
off topic.
