Yes, that would be cool but that means that the emulator would need to
distribute those translation files and the programmer of the emulator would
need to put that code into each programmed game. Can you imagine adding
code for over 100 games, such as which sector a video clip starts and to add
the english translation? As if the life of emulator writers is not
difficult enough. I'm not flaming you, I think that would be an awesome
idea. Just not very practical from a develop standpoint. What would be
cool is if the emulator had a universal translator built into it. Sure, the
translation may suck but for us English speaking folk, it will make the game
more playable. I have Lodoss Wars 1 and 2 and I cannot really play it since
I don't know what the heck is happening and I can't understand the menus at
all. It would be nice if there was an application that sat on top that
would intercept the calls to the fonts, could understand the fonts and then
translate it using a code dictionary.
Just imagine the slowdown for that though... Of course, I am only stating
text translation, not voice.
