well, it seems to me that many PC Engine fanatics either are Japanese, can
speak Japanese, or desire to learn... And quite a few have programming
skills.
Has anyone played the translated version of Bikkuriman World? I've played
the ROM with Magic Engine, and it is a straight up job. The ingame text has
been completely redone in English. I'm not sure who did this, but it was
definetly unauthorized.
And think, Working Designs translated many games for a variety of systems
into English. Maybe if some of us get serious about this, and make a real
commitment to offer our various talents (Japanese knowledge, programming) we
could ask some of the guys at WD how they would go about translating these
games, and do it ourselves. And leave the fart jokes optional :)
In the best case scenario, we'd be left with a weird decision, though. What
we would have would be an unauthorized game (probably violating
international copyright and territory laws), and we'd have to decide whether
or not to make it available to other gamers...
But what the hell, we could even ask Falcom, or whoever, what their whole
take on this is...
