Yeah, I know a lot of shooters have decent background depth. That's why I
love the Turbo! :)
I should have specified, I was thinking more specifically about
sidescrollers, where you have freedom of motion. As I remember, Genji
Tshushin Agedama offers some tidbits of depth, which disappear halfway
through level 2 and never ever come back. Doraemon, too, had some kickass
parallax in the first level, and it never ever comes back (as far as I know,
because I've not played it to the end).
Kaze Kiri is a game I've heard a lot of praise about, but haven't gotten the
chance to try. Anyone have screenshots/review? I've heard it can compete
with Drac X for best sidescroller.
The Sega Genesis had at least two backgrounds, two sprite planes, and a
window plane. Must have been a lot easier to work with. Remember, our
little Turbo is an 8-bit machine. I can't believe I forget that! Truly a
tribute to NEC!
Geez, now I don't feel so critical of it... 8-bit. Wow! CD-ROM, too.
Gotta go play... ;)
Earnest
eagerly awaiting his Mad Stalker :)
