A while ago someone wrote a pretty interesting response here about some
of the industry going on's around the time the Duo began to die off. I think
he said that he was working with Taito at the time?

In any case, it's widely accepted that NEC/Hudson didn't have the budget
to port the game to the states, nor did Konami want to release it in the
states for fear of some retaliation by Nintendo. At the time Nintendo was
still king and ruled with an iron fist (ie - If you want to release games for
Nintendo, you may only release games for Nintendo.) Some say Konami flat out
rejected NEC/Hudson despite their coming up with the cash to port the game
state-side.

The GF article you refer to is pretty interesting... They spend all of
two pages telling you how much they love playing it and how hard it is to
get, but they never really get into anything about the game itself besides
saying it even beats out the PlayStation's SotN. Doh...

Later.
