Far East of Eden games are cool. I've played Manji Maru and
Kabuki Den (I think). Manji Maru is really good but it's VERY Japanese
and very difficult for a US gamer. There are many spots where you need to
know Japanese but the game is beautifully done and has great music.
Kabuki Den is identical in game layout but I wasn't impressed as
much by it. I only had this one for a few weeks before I traded it.
By far, the best RPGs for the PCE are as followed:
-Xanadu II
-Ys 4
-Emerald Dragon
-Dragon Slayer 1(US) or 2
-Xanadu I
Xanadu II is awesome the only drawback is that it's kinda short
and has like PCM music. Ys 4 is great but too short. Emerald Dragon is
very impressive musically and graphically though it has boring battle
sequences. Dragon Slayer is really cool. Get Dragon Slayer 1 US. It's a
good game. Dragon Slayer 2 is also cool but it gets tough because of the
Japanese required. Xanadu I is really good too but I don't give it as
high of praise because I played Xanadu II first and that towers over
Xanadu I.
