Well...  not quite everyone.  It's not how powerful the system can be but 
how the game programmers uses the system that can make or break the 
system.  64 bit Jaguar was out long ago ('93 I think) and had the first 
64 bit system but a good percentage of the games were no different from 
similiar games on other 8 and 16 bit consoles.  (ie Flashback for Jags 
looked almost the same as those 2 16 bit platforms)

Even though I have many modern consoles, I still favor the older consoles 
(TG-16 for example) because there are many more games that I considered 
to be worthwhile.  As in excellent play value.  I have yet to find a 
"good" 32 bit or 64 bit games that are #1 decent #2 doesn't look like it 
was programmed by a 5 year old overnight, #3 is not too easy or too hard 
regardless of any difficulity settings, and #4 keeps me wanting to play 
more.  The best record for play span this current generation is 2 months 
for Zelda 64 and it was finished in that time.  I spent more time trying 
to solve both Neutopia and Neutopia 2.  And I still like to play them.
