	I've done the same thing, pretty much, with my GT.  I got a cheapo
brand AC adaptor at the local corner store, which generates different
voltages at 1200mA.  Actually, I found my GT wasn't working too well at
the 7.5v setting, so I tested the power supply out on a multimeter.  Turns
out the voltage setting were off by 2-3 volts each, so at the 9v setting
it was really outputting something like 7.3v.

	I've been running my TE for 2 years now on said 9v setting and it's
still running (knock on wood :)
