Ah... There is a way to get the powerup in the first world of the
game, though the procedure is tiresome. You must play through the
game until you get to a level where you can obtain "Star" cards... if
you play on a level where there are star bubbles and make three large
bubbles before losing your last life, when you restart the game you
will(if it works correctly) earn a star card on the first screen with
bubbles. Make another three large bubbles on that level and a star
card should appear on the next one, etc... when you beat the boss, a
door should open where you can get the Giant Gold coin(100
continues!). I've gotten this to work twice, and a third time I got a
large silver coin which only gave me 10 continues. The rainbow
necklace seems to appear only after you have collected six of the same
card in a row, though I've only done that near the end of the game. I
hope this helps and if anyone else has hints for this excellent game,
please post them!
