Re: About the Avenue Pad 3

OK, to set the record straight :

The Avenue Pad 3 is quite unlike the Ave Pad 6. The
AP6 uses a different button signal method to get all 6 buttons
to register, and support for it must be coded into the software
for it to work.
On the other hand, the 3-button pad is really just a
normal PCE controller. Buttons 1 and 2 are normal, while button
3 just mirrors the Start or Select button (selectable via a
switch). So, any game that uses the Run or Select button to
perform a function will be more playable with the Ave Pad 3.
Barunba, in fact, uses the Run button in exactly the same manner
as Forgotten Worlds, so it's perfectly suited for it.
Even on regular PCE games, the AP3 is sorta handy - it
places the start button within easy reach, so you can pause at
a moment's notice. Or, in a lot of shooters, (Star Soldier
series especially!) you can set the 3rd button to "select" and
change your ship speed much more quickly than normal.

And now for a harmless self-gratifying brag post :)

	I found my Avenue Pad 3 around 2 1/2 weeks ago - I was
checking in at a local used electronics shop, and didn't see much
interesting. As I was leaving, though, the owner walked by with
a box full of stuff for sale, and I thought I saw the front end
of a Coregrafx sticking out. Naturally I had to check this out,
and so 5 minutes later I walked out with a Coregrafx system,
R-Type 1, and a nice Avenue Pad 3, all for $18 CND. Not bad! It
would have been worth the money for just the Avenue pad 3 alone,
but the extra stuff's a nice bonus :)

P.S. - I now have a Coregrafx for trade if anyone wants it ;)
