I for one would love to see the translation of existing or creation of
new Turbo games. I can see some huge obstacles though. You need
people with knowledge of Turbo tools and most importantly money. TZD
could translate a game but they may not have the budget for it, I'm
sure licensing fees would still be high years after a Japanese release.
One thing I'd really like to see is Japanese companies putting out
Turbo games again. Think about the state of the Japanese game market.
Many games sell in verrrry low numbers as it is, whose to say a new PC
Engine game couldn't sell better than current system software? The
system should be a breeze for most developers to work on by now, they
would'nt need to spend massive amounts of dough on CG cinemas, just
make a game with great play (though it would likely turn out one of
those digital comics we all love... blah).
If anything, such ideas are possible in the future as there is a market
for software on "dead" consoles, look at Atari 2600, Jag, and Lynx, all
still recieve support. EGM played a April Fool's on people, claiming a
website had Virtua Hamster and Xmen for 32x for sale and the site got
thousands of hits. Look at Circus Lido. Yes many bought it for the
"rarity" but many more picked it up as a new game for their system.
Old stuff still sells! Maybe one day someone will notice that....
