Dragon Half

I recently got this game off ebay cause I love the anime.  I am having a 
blast playing it, but am having a bit of a hard time trying to figure out the 
point to the game.  Is there some sort of goal the players are trying to 
achieve?  Does anyone have or know where I can find a translation of the 
items for sale at the different shops (or whatever they are)?  Thanks,
