RE: reading material

I think that Craig has made an excellent point. MK would have been nice to
see but I'm not sure if it would have been that good. I remember one of the
MK games (Trilogy perhaps) that was put on the Playstation platform and it
was choppy and not very good to play. The playstation uses a 2x CDRom
whereas the TG16 only had a single speed CD. Also, the playstation is much
more powerful that the TG16 was. I'm not saying that it wouldn't have sold
or been a good game to add to the collection but I'm not sure if it would
have been a succesful port in terms of gameplay. Could you image trying to
play against Sheng Sung and having the game pause for 2 seconds every time
he would transform? The pause is slight on the Playstation but still very
annoying. I sold my Sega Master System and games so that I could afford a
TG16. My friend got one for Christmas and I was hooked on Keith Courage and
Legenday Axe. The graphics were amazing, especially since I was used to the
8-bit SMS and NES. So I sold my 8-bit and bought a 16-bit which looked full
of potential. The games were better (at least graphically and sound) than
the NES and although only about 25 games might have been out there, they
looked great. I remember buying my TG16 along with Sonic Spike and Ninja
Spirit. It cost me something like $175 for those 3 items but it was well
worth it. Unfortunately the years were not too kind and I noticed that I
should have spent the money on the Genesis instead. I beleive that when I
got my TG16, the Genesis was just out and another friend of mine had it and
I thought Altered Beast was a cool game but the sound and graphics were
nothing compared the to TG16. But as more and more titles came out for SNES
and Genesis, I saw less and less for the TG16. Eventually I buckled under
the gaming pressure and bought the SNES since Zelda looked so cool and Mario
World was a great game by itself. I still wonder what would have happened
if NEC did release some of the great Japan-only games to the US...

Now my poor TG16 sits in its box with little hope for use. Since I bought
my Dreamcast last year, that has become my system of choice. I've always
been a big sega fan (except for the genesis) and it was sad to see them stop
producing systems. I eventually got another SMS (for nostalgia purposes) to
add to my Saturn and Dreamcast...

Has anyone else noticed that Bonk looks suspicously similar to Dopey
from the Walt Disney movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs? Perhaps
this is one of those "Separated at birth" things.
