Re: Side Arms

I'd just like to chime in here, and although my reply may be blasphemous
(and any flames to this are deserved and welcome). Keep in mind this is an
opinion of someone who never played it in the arcade (or CD version), so
other than the US cart, I don't really have much to gauge it off of:).

BUT...I Hated Side Arms...A lot. In fact, it's the only Hu Card I didn't
mind slicing open to see what was inside, because I will never ever put that
cart in my system again.

To each his own, but I didn't like how hard SA was to start with. I thought
the bosses were repetitive (because they really do repeat...what seemed like
more than 3 times), and the music was annoying (I'm sure the CD is better).

I thought the powerups really didn't give you quite enough, and what's worse
I thought the regular blaster was all but useless against the entourage of
enemies that you have to kill. The graphics are so-so, nothing to write home
about, and the music is just plain annoying. I'm still a little pissed that
I spent all that time beating it, much less buying it when it was still new.
Nothing is worse than a game that is too darn hard, and then offers little
reward for the ungodly amount of time and practice it takes to beat IMHO.

So, again, in my opinion,* take what you like and leave the rest*. Side Arms
s-u-c-k-s. I wouldn't give you $5 for it, much less $15.

I hope I haven't been too offensive, it's not often I go out of my way to
knock a turbo title:P. I just know that if I had spent $15 on it personally
I would be seriously bummed (and I spent 30 way back when).

Now Rtype if you don't have it might be worth that price. Although it was
guddum near impossible to beat too. (Or am I just awful at shooters? I did
fine with LOT and GOT, which were much more fun:).

Cheers!
