I have a cd burner also. I have only done data and audio disks thus far.
However, it is my understanding that the burner language used to read on all
cd-roms or just cdr/cdrw or on audio cd players or game machines is all
different. I might be missing the mark here but the game systems need an
ISO IMAGE, the standard cd-roms will need you to "close out" the burning
session and/or disk and this "closing" puts it in a different format than
ISO IMAGE. Audio cd's need to be burnt in CDA, CDDA to be read in audio cd
players. Before I started burning I did a bunch of web sniffing and found
some useful links for getting the ISO IMAGE tho' at the time I had no idea
what that was. The site was mentioning locations of programs that will
eliminated the protection mentioned in the first reply to this post, there
are proggies that will read and add that info code to the cd you burn also,
this is so the burnt cd is a true back-up to the game disc. I have had to
reformat my computer but I saved the links on a burnt back-up disc. I am
traveling in and out of town but will try to get the links and post them to
this list. If that should fail to occur in a reasonable time or if you care
to remind me and spur the process along send private e-mail to
xxxxxx@willmar.com. After writing that I found the following url:
http://www.cdrinfo.com/ here you can navigate to what you might need.
They have cd burner firmware updates posted there as nwell as a host of
links to almost everything else you may need in regards to burning cd's) I
had at least started here. I will still pursue the other links for all
interested. There is a link about making back-up Dreamcast disks
http://www.cdrinfo.com/articles/dreamcast/. It explains how the disks are
made and will give you an understanding of how disks are protected. As a
matter of further investigation this link
http://www.cdrinfo.com/software/clonecd/ explains the different protections,
how to recognize and proceed to make LEGITIMATE back-up copies. You know
the legal stuff. http://www.cdrinfo.com/links/ will link you to most all
other needs. Happy hunting.
