There are a number of types of memory back up units available for the
PC Engine.
The Ten No Koe is a Hu card, and swaps saved files with a machines (CD
Rom and Duos) internal memory.
The Back Up Booster I & II and Ten No Koe 2 are small items that clip
on the back of a PC Engone, Core I & II and SG (like an AV Booster). They require batteries, and saves are done directly to the
memory unit.
There is also the Shuttle Back Up Unit, a small cartridge that fits
into a slot on the back of the Shuttle.
Finally there is the MB128 and Save Kun, basically the same unit. It
plugs into the control pad port (and the pad plugs in to it). The MB128 (and the Save Kun as well) require compatible software
(look here : http://www2.gol.com/users/geopal/list012.html ).
The Save Kun originally came packed with one of the Koei historical
simulation games (Nobunaga's Ambition), the MB 128 was sold seperately.
