I have Super Raiden, the CD version...which I assume is the same (except for
the music) since they both spawned out of Hudson Soft. To me, it's much
better than the rather drab Mega Drive version (not to mention the horrid
Super Famicom rev), and it compares somewhat favorably to the arcade version.
Since I was a big fan of the original arcade release, I have issues with all
of the home versions I've played except the PlayStation port (which is
spot-on). Of those I own, though, I always play the PC Engine rev the most
because the power of the laser was pumped up a touch, making it considerably
more destructive. Kind of throws the original balance of the game off a tad,
but it's kind of nice to actually be using a weapon I ignored in the arcade.
