Re: Bonk on Other Systems

Heh, what a weird coincidence. Just last weekend, I decided to hook my
Amigas up to my TV and play the old games that I haven't played in years.
PC Kid was one of them. :-)

The music to PC Kid is so nice because it's composed by Chris Hlsbeck, one
of my favourite musicians. He's done the soundtracks to the Turrican
series of games on the Amiga, Genesis, and SNES, as well as lots of others
(for example, Jim Power on the SNES and PC-Engine). I recommend searching
for his TFMX Amiga soundtracks on the Internet, or else what I did was buy
his Soundfactory CD. It includes a CD-ROM track with all of his TFMX
compositions arranged in directories.

The Accolade (Ballistic) conversions of the Turrican games on Genesis and
TG-16 were pretty pitiful. To the casual games player, the console
conversions of Turrican and Universal Soldier (re-worked Turrican II) were
alright, but they pale in graphics and sound to the original versions on
the Amiga. Last weekend, I also played Turrican II on my Amiga with the
lights off and the volume turned way up, and it still amazes me. Probably
my favourite Amiga game of all time.

Thanks for shoving me down memory lane. :-)
