Hello all,
I was going to wait and send this message, but I am getting so hyped up
about it, I figured what the heck. As some of you may have noticed, I
am selling a good portion of my collection (yes, on evilBay and NO not
my Turbo stuff :-). I am doing this to fund my dream trip: to Tokyo. I
am madly trying to learn as much hiragana and Kanji, but I am also
trying to find out AS MANY STORES to go to as possible.
So, why am I writing the Turbo list? Well, I was wondering if the
membership could provide me with as much information as possible.
Things I would like to know:
Good places to stay to get a good "feel" for Japan, i.e., I do not want
to stay in a Western-type hotel. I can do that in the States. My
friend and I were thinking a ryokan. DOes anyone have any good
suggestions in terms of price/enjoyment?
I am hunting down tickets and I think I have found a few good places.
We are thinking late May. The places tell me that the airlines release
those prices in March or so. Any ideas/suggestions/information on this
front would be great.
Good places to eat/drink would also be great. I have a travel guide
(Lonely Planet's "Tokyo"), but other suggestions would be greatly
appreciated. Also, where should we go to "experience" Tokyo. I am
hoping to see a ballgame since I love baseball and I want to see the
differences/similarities beyond what Tom Selleck can tell me (Okay,
admit it, you LIKED "Mr. Baseball"! :-)
Finally, and most importantly, where can I buy PC-Engines (and
DreamCast) games??!?!?!?!? I am salivating at the thought of going to
Akihibara for various reasons, so, PLEASE, spill your guts!
Also, ANY websites you can direct me to whether in English (for the
immediate knowledge) or in Japanese (for when my mastery becomes
better). Thanks!
I realize that this is a bit in the future, but I have wanted to make
this trip ever since I found out that Kato & Ken was better than JJ &
Jeff! :-) Part of me is excited at the prospect of being able to buy
PC-Engine games IN Japan, the other part of me is THRILLED at the
prospect of seeing this beautiful country and I humbly ask that y'all
help me do it! I know it is a lot, but I would be thankful for any help
I can get.
