Continuing on my PC-FX kick, I have been playing the most recent
addition to my PC-FX collection Pia welcome to Carrot, which has a sequel
on the Dreamcast.
For an all Japanese simulation, it is surprisingly easy to play. The
main menu at the top of the screen when you are home is in English which
is a big help. There is also a good amount of kana used which also
helps. I don't know what it is about this game. The naughty side of it
is pretty funny and the colors in the game are very good. One thing I
have noticed about PC-FX games, especially these sims, is that in most
cases the load times are fantastic! The few I've played on other systems
take a while but on the FX they are very snappy in comparison.
I have some questions about Pia if anyone here can answer them. What
happens when all ofthe carrots are maxed out? I have three of them full
now. Also, it doesn't look like I can go to school now, any idea
why? I should really move more slowly in these games and read the
text. Instead, I read what I can and don't bother to decode anything
which is definately my loss.
I am sort of expecting something to happen. Aside from a ton of
voices, the music is PCM and there seems to be very little animation so
far. Usually, as was the case in Snatcher, anime is saved for some later
stages or even ending movie. Any pointers?
If the carrot meters are any indication, I am about 25% of the way
through the game. It is very fun so far.
