OH NO !!!
This is terrible.

Not only does it mean that there will be less originality (because there is
one less company), but Konami's licensing practices have been very harsh by
comparison to other game makers.

For example, Konami lobbied vigorously to make it illegal to sell used
games in Japan.  I am not sure whether they succeeded.  The last I heard
was that it was declared to be illegal in Osaka, but not Tokyo.  I don't
know if this has changed.

Anyway, this implies that Konami would be unfriendly to the resale of
PC-Engine games, and certainly the production of new games on old hardware.

These guys also like to milk the living daylights out of every successful
game they make - but this might be a good thing depending on your point of
view.

Unfortunately, they haven't made too many good games in recent years - or
at least not much that's original.  They may even impose limitations on the
originality of Hudson's efforts, based on their own management style.

Look out.
