Re: new topic best controller

It's funny that this topic comes up about a day after I was talking with a
friend about controllers...

My pick for best controller would have to be the Genesis 6 button pad. It's
not perfect, but IMO, the D-pad on it definately is. Smooth, responsive,
doesn't need a ton of pressure, etc... And I've been told that the Saturn 3D
pad has the same D-pad on it, which intrigues me.

I've only really had that problem with the psx pad and the jaguar pad, but
then again, there were no fighters worth playing on the jag anyway. And so
far, all the fighters I've liked a ton are available on the Saturn or DC, so
I don't mind that much.

It's not really that bad. Not ideal, but compared to the setup they had to
use for DC FPS type games, I can certainly live with it. My PC is about as
old as dirt, so gaming on it is out of the question.

The biggest problem with this is, angry opponents tended to pull your
controller out if they were losing badly. ;) But also, many 3rd party pads
didn't include the plug, so they could only be the final pad. And 1st party
pads were very expensive (just like 1st party DS2 and Xbox pads are).

My frankenstein controller would probably be similar in shape to a Dual Shock
/ DS2, but maybe bigger. Have the D-pad from the Genny 6-button. Six face
buttons like the saturn. Two digital shoulder buttons, and two analog
triggers. And two analog sticks I guess, just because it would have to have
them. The built in turbo switches from the TG pad were fantastic in their
day, but I don't think I've needed turbo fire in a game since early in the
psx/saturn's life.

And to keep this on topic, I've found that the pressure needed on the D-pad
for my Turbo/Duo controllers is very high. My thumbs have aged faster than
the rest of me, so it becomes uncomfortable quickly. Are there any pads (not
sticks) available for either the TG or Duo that are better in that respect?
