Darius Alpha

What would be considered a fair price for Darius Alpha for the PCE?  I
noticed one on Ebay going for $999.00!!!  If I remember correctly I saw a
post on here a while back that stated Darius Alpha had some ridiculous
print run of around 1000 copies?  Is this why it is so rare and expensive?
Could someone shed some light on this as I have searched for the original
post and can't find it.  Thanks,
