Oh, that's an easy one.
When I used to go into Babbage's or TRU to buy a game, I wanted to *play
the game*, not collect it.
So I kept the jewel case, manual, and CD or HuCard. That was all I needed
to play the game; the box was extraneous and usually had obtuse artwork on
it anyway that didn't enhance my game-playing experience. I wasn't about
to prop the box up next to my 19" TV so I could look at it during CD
loads. It also got torn and such easily, so storing the game inside of
it was impractical as well.
The only boxes I kept were those for games which were shipped loose (thanks,
guys). And even then, the box tended to fall apart so fast, I went to
using jewel cases where I had taken out the CD insert. The HuCard
rattling around wasn't a concern -- and still isn't.
