As someone who has been involved in the hobyist development scene at least to
a limited degree for the past few years, I gotta tell you that if you have
sold 250 copies, you have probably broken every record I have ever heard of
for something like this. Most homebrew games on what are considered niche
systems sell well under 100 copies. From what I understand, when Good Deal
Games released the Sega CD titles, their sales were relatively low, so much
so that they barely broke even from what I have heard.
Although I like to support projects like this, when it comes down to it I
would much rather buy a professionally developed game that was just never
released (like the stuff Good Deal Games or Older Games sells for Sega CD and
CD-i). Homebrew stuff on 10 year old hardware just doesn't do anything for
me. Having said that, I love the Turbo and still play it regularly. I guess
I'm just not interested in relatively simple games for a system that has some
amazing stuff in the commercially released library that I still haven't had a
chance to buy and play yet.
