The version number on the system cards have no correlation to the number
after CD-ROMn system. You might think of it this way... All system cards
are for the CD-ROM2 system. The "2" in CD-ROM doesn't indicate a version,
the original name for it is CD ROM ROM system which was condensed to
CD-ROM^2 (ROM squared). CD-ROM^2 became the more commonly used phrase.
As for the system card differences, there aren't many in regards to games.
1.0 -> 2.0 added CD+G capabilities, also broke compatibility with a few
games like Altered Beast. 2.0 -> 2.1 not sure... but I think it had
something to do with better support for CD+G and more CD audio playing
functions. Of course 3.0 and arcade card just added more RAM. Also,
system card 1.0 has a debug mode which was taken out from the latter
system cards.
