Well, I've been a list member for sometime now, but I was only able to
receive with my yahoo account. However, given the interest in Ys I&II
Complete, I thought I'd setup myself up for send and let everyone know
I've got a pretty "complete" translation patch for Ys I Complete. The

with Dave Shadoff a long time and we're quite thrilled to bring fan
translations to the good ole PC-Engine...
BTW, some tips for installing Ys Eternal Complete on an English
system.... It DOES work on Win 98, ME, 2k, & XP. But the installer don't
work unless you switch to Japanese mode, a feature of 2k/XP... But
anyhow, since you really don't need the installer, to get by in for
Win9X OSes, simply copy the YS1_WIN or YS2_WIN folder(s) to your HD
manually... The trick here is that a file in the SAVE sub folder uses
"S-JIS" in its name, so Win9X English OSes will stop copying when they
hit that file (as will the installer which is why it fails).. So, ignore
it & manually copy the remaining files.. Then run the executable
(YS1_WIN.EXE or YS2_WIN.EXE)... You'll need the original disc inserted,
as it's considered the game disc... For the Ys1&2 complete CDROM set,
it's the 2nd disc...
The 2nd tip is for Ys 2 Complete... In order for the SAVE/LOAD feature
to work, you must switch your "Standards and formats" setting to
Japanese using the "Regional & Language Options" Control panel.. You
don't need to reboot for this change if the needed files are already
there I believe - once & if they're there, you never need reboot for
this switch... If you've installed Japanese support, it should be no
sweat... And my patch only translates the menus, which makes it somewhat
easier.. It'll be a while before I get to continue hacking it, so enjoy
Ys I for the time being.. :)
