I understand perfectly why you'd want to ditch the box. I find TG16
cardboard boxes hopelessly irritating, and the ones I own (all 3 of them)
spent most of their time in a box in my closet, alongside all the SNES and
NES boxes that never see the light of day either.
I really don't like cardboard video game boxes much at all. They're
easy to damage and scrape, don't stand up or stack very well, and it's a
pain in the butt to open them up and close them again every time you want to
play. Besides, when you do this, the little side tabs wear out, get flimsy,
and eventually break off. If you're actually playing your games, cardboard
boxes just suck no matter which way you look at them! I'm really glad that
most companies have moved away from them in favour of DVD and jewel cases.
In fact, that's one of the things that attracted me to the Turbo in the
first place - the Hucard cases were so cute and practical.
That's why most ordinary people, who don't buy video games to look
pretty on a shelf, tend to lose their boxes after a while. I don't think
they feel any pangs of regret.
As for me? I'm too much of a collector to throw my boxes out! Maybe
they're useless, and they take up space in my closet that could be better
used, but of course I won't toss them. They do, after all, have nice pictures
of the game art on them (bigger than the cartridge label), and I occasionally
get to have fun by bragging that I have a complete copy of game X. Whoo!
I have, on the other hand, bought heaps of loose carts, and enjoyed
playing them just as much as if I'd had all the paperwork. I'm happy with
my collection in its partially box-free state. What's the point of paying
lots of extra money for just a box? There's no sense in being anal about
it.

they're always broke from buying TG/Duo/PCE games), but none the less,
it's just something that you should be aware of.
