Basically it lays out like this:

The supergrafx has an extra graphics chip that adds an extra background,
an extra 64k of video ram, and an extra set of sprites. The ACD simply
adds an arseload of extra quickly accessible ram to the unit, which
still only has 64k of video ram, 64 sprites, and 1 background layer. The
extra ram is extremely useful because loads from the CD are so slow, and
interrupt CD Audio. I think the ACD is far superior of the two because
the extra ram gives a LOT of freedom for graphics, animation, and sound.
Now, how about an ACD game that runs on the SGX with the SCD add on?
Now, THAT would be awesome :D. I think the SGX games could have gotten
really much more impressive with time, but there weren't any titles
beyond the initial burst :(. I wish they would have added some scaling
or rotation into it :(.
