TG16 CD add-on compatibility

Hi,
I was wondering if a TG-16 CD add-on can be used with the PC-Engine + 
suitcase combination?
I'm currently looking for a replacement CD player; aside from looking 
for the original Japanese one, I'd look for a US one as well if that's a 
possible option..
