Falcom officially considers Mask of the Sun to be the true Ys IV from
a storyline standpoint. Yeah, it's disappointing, since I still think
the PC Engine version of Ys IV was better, but I don't see them
changing their minds on this. I picked up a really cool hardcover
book called Perfect Data of Ys I-VI recently and Mask of the Sun is
the focus, with just a side bar given to the "alternate" Dawn of Ys
version of the game.
