Opinions on watermarking images.

Hi all...

So, what's the general concensous about watermarking image content for
webistes? Back in 2001 I went through and watermarked the URL for GameZero
onto all of the review images because we have tons of people inlining
the images into auctions and the like without credit, or atleast some kind of
link-back... and I wanted to make sure that people knew where these images were coming from.

Well, I'm considering dumping the Java viewer that I have for viewing
all of the corporate press releases on the site, and rebuilding the page into more of a
photo album type setup. This brings me to the question of watermarking. While
I know most people aren't going to take the scans for their own sites, on the
off chance that would happen, I'm thinking about watermarking the images so
that they can be identified back to my site.

I also have a number of logo-sheets of 2-color/4-color TG related logos and
such that I keep wanting to put up, but I'm not really wanting to provide the
whole world with source art for their sites without some kind of link back or
credit for providing the material... and to be honest, I think watermarked art
looks like crap... Oh what to do?

What's everyone's thoughts on this... and I guess this question is more
targeted at the other site owners than anything.

Thanks in advance for the feedback...
