According to the article he posted, which is circa 2003, it is something NEC
was making called a PCX. It appears to be a DVD and Hard Drive
recorder/Tivo sorta deal, and also plays PC-Engine CD-Rom's and has a
emulator built in that will play rom's of Hu-card games. It comes with a 1
GB HD built in, which seems kinds small even for 2003, and was going to
retail for 79,800 yen, which is the paltry sum of around 767 US dollars. I
assume this never came out, since I've never heard of it. Not sure it would
have been that big of a seller at that price point, although in 2003 a set
top dvd recorder/tivo deal would have been about that expensive. Still, t
looks neat, and interesting mostly because of its PC-Engine features.
I couldn't get the web translation deal he posted to work, so I just looked
at it natively, so if any of the info I gleaned is incorrect, feel free to
correct me.
This is my first post in years on the Turbo list, I used to be somewhat
active on here (on a different email address), and did some buying as well,
back in High School and my first year or so in college, now post-college I'm
finally back on the list. It's awesome that it, and the saturn list, are
still around.
Peace
