Namida is a colossal game which seemed to go out of its way to use obscure
kanji when simpler hiragana forms of those words are far more common. It's
3-D, and somehow feels like a disappointment to me. I wish I could
understand enough of the game to control it, but sadly I don't.

The PS2 and Gamecube versions of Manji Maru are interesting.
They redid the graphics in 3-D and altered the soundtrack, but preserved the
original story, and as far as I can see, they kept the original script
word-for-word. I think they re-recorded voices too. It reminds me a bit of
Dragon Quest VIII which was released last year on PS2. I wish I could
understand more of what's going on though.... (recurring theme....)

Interestingly, they re-released Manji Maru in Japan for the Nintendo DS just
the other day. It has the original PC Engine graphics, and appears to have
the same cinema scenes and voices (!). Additionally, they have put
subtitles (Japanese) on some (all?) of the cinemas, which might be a decent
crutch for some people who know a little Japanese but struggle to keep up
with the speed of speech. And the battle system can use the stylus, and
they seem to have added some mild hint system.

>now, the first game, Ziria, is getting the XBOX 360 treatment! it looks
>great. now, the original PC Engine version of the game is out on Japanese
>cell phones!

>And the Saturn version (Apocalypse) is AWESOME.

Rumours state that this will be re-released on the PSP later this year; it's
still unclear what might be altered or updated.

>some explanation would be greatly appreciated.

Take a look at this link... it's the best Tengai Makyou page I've seen, and
it might help:
