I believe this has been mentioned here before, but this guy in Japan seems
to own an original Hu7D development machine, or at least have been given
access to one for a while:

Anyone feel good enough with their written Japanese to ask this guy if
he'd be willing to draw up schematics, or part with it for a month or so
to allow detailed analysis of the unit?  Of course, a better translation
than what I've been able to glean from this webpage would also be greatly
appreciated.  What I'm mainly interested in are (a) the software on that
tantalizing 5 1/4" diskette, and (b) how the #@$@#$ the MIDI IN/OUT/THRU
ports work.  Can you imagine how much better "chip music" would sound if
piped to some MIDI device?
