Okay, here's the latest update in my strife and struggle to build a
WORKING RGB amp.
I've figured out that the schematic on www.gamesx.com is incorrect in a
lot of things. First of all, the entire section with the 270 ohm
resistors attached to ground, and then to the RGB out lead doesn't work.
(Picture is black and white)
I've also discovered that the capacator orientation is backwards (the
negative side should be attached to the transistor, and the positive to
the RGB output -- not the other way around, as the schematic shows).
I was told to use 220uF caps instead of the 47uF shown in the schematic.
Still no luck.
While the contrast is considerably better than before, the colors are
still not bright enough, and for some reason the entire background is
taking on a greenish tinge. This is on the arcade monitor. On the
commodore monitor, the green is much, much brighter than the red and
blue, and the picture still cannot hold sync correctly.
Basically, it looks like hell. The simple cable mod for my PSX and
Saturn was so easy, and they both look extremely good... why am I cursed
with horrid-looking RGB from my favorite system! ARRRRG!!!!!
(anyone know where I can simply buy a nice chip, solder the RGB inputs
and outputs on, and be on my merry way? I'm not an idiot when it comes
to circuits and soldering, but I can't for the life of me figure out why
the hell this isn't working!!)
My schematic is at the following link:

The transistors are 2N3904's, two capacators are 220uF 16V, and one is
220uF 35V. (Isn't it lovely how Radioshack never carries more than two
