Bikkuriman World is a port of my favorite arcade game of all time: Wonder Boy in Monster Land. As with all of Hudon's conversions of Westone's Wonder Boy series (Adventure Island on the NES, Dragon's Curse and Dynastic Hero on the PC-Engine), some of the character graphics have been redone. The main character is slightly different and all of the shop keepers and bosses have been redrawn. I wanted to take a point off because the boss characters look like crap compared to the rest of the game's excellent graphics, but it's the solid gameplay that earns it five stars. It's a platform game with heavy some RPG influence. Run, jump, kill monsters and collect bling to buy new gear. I love it and it's done so well here. Some people rate this lower in the Wonder Boy series because of it's arcade nature but I think that's where its charm is. You can sit down and play through it in one sitting and you can always better your game. The music is top-notch and very catchy without getting repetitive or annoying; th
Considering this is like one of the first hucard games, the game is incredably diffacult play.
The Wonder boy series are among my favorite games ever released. This game here Bikkuiriman World AKA Wonder Boy in Monster Land is a very nice side scroll action rpg. The difficulity will most likely turn most people off. The game can be beatin in only a few hours if you have the skill. This game was also released on the sega master system as WB in Monster Land, which was a watered down version. This is by far the best version of this game released on a home console. However, there was a arcade JAMMA release, which is far superior to every other version times 100. So if you are a true fan of the series like myself your gonna want the JAMMA. Don't be fooled though, this is a awesome game. The only reason it gets 4 stars is cause dynastic Hero is the greatest game ever!!
Sweet for Wonderboy fans or TG-16 fans of Dragon\'s Curse. Much more linear- the RPG element is basically when you buy stuff from stores with the money you get from killing creatures. Being as its an early PC-engine release the graphics are of the time but do the job well. I didn\'t find the boss graphics to be below the level of the rest of the game like the top reviewer... Tough- but you quickly get further with experience and it\'s a title you\'ll come back to if you haven\'t beaten it yet...
Old school, but an essential classic. The music has been stuck in my head since the 1980s... that satisfying noise when you discover a hidden coin...Ahh, arcade bliss: what the Engines best at!
