[Pioneer LaserActive Station] Talking to myself again... this time about Don Quixote and other topics...

Hello Fellow LaserActive owners... echo echo echo... seems like nobody is here these days. So i'll just talk to myself if that is alright...
Well... as far as LaserActive is concerned.. two days ago I receieved my 2nd LA back from a repair shop 'BayView" electronics in Washington State. I highly reccomend them if your CLD-A100 is in need of repair. I have put nearly 10 hours on the system and it has worked flawlessly!! (Now I wish to have kept the first broken system). The LA is everything I hoped it would be and works flawlessly.
The bad news is I have sold most of my games... and pretty 'rare ones too' and a brand new NEC pac... man i'm dumb, should have kept it. But I did find 2 very rare games, Vajra Ni and Blue Chicago Blues both mint with obi's and they are on their way from Japan as we speak. I will write FAQ's and reviews for them in the near future as there is VERY little information on them...
Speaking of very little information... I did acquire a US copy of Don Quixote. Some of you probley already know what it is ect ect... but on the internet there is some misconception data. One site I looked at claimed "A dream in seven crystals" is a remake of the Super Don Quixote arcade game. That is SO far from the truth it isnt funny, although the animations are well done (relatively speaking).
A quick review... Don Quixote is an old style first person RPG with a fresh coat of paint. Most of the graphic movement animation is hand drawn as you walk down the streets/fields and caves. You get to ride a horse and carry weapons. Killing enemies do not increase stats or give you any loot... most treasure is found at dead ends and plenty of "potions" and "cures" can be found en-route, so dont waste too much money in the shops. Selling "treasures" is a random affair, so if you do not think you are getting a fair price, cancel the sell, wait a few seconds and try again, see if the offer goes up. Different enemies require different weapons, so in the begining purchase both a sword and whip before leaving the first town. You can only retreat a battle if is with an enemy you can not win against... this is important because say you only bought a sword...and the enemy needs a whip to defeat, basicly the battle 'can not end' until either he dies, or you die. Your horsesho!
es do wear out so be cautious on that, and will take 'small damage' when moving when they wear out. Avoid dracula in the 3rd map... Labrinth... although you can not defeat him early on...you can retreat...he knocks out half of your life in one hit. The windmill can be defeated early with enough 'potions' but i never fully tried it. Enemies are stagnent and only appear in certain spots (not random) but once they are defeated, they are gone until you leave and return.
The acting in the FMV segments are well done (english wise) although the text menu's can be slight confusing (from translation issues). Overall from what I've experienced... about 8 hours into it, its a great game. I do admit movement is stiff and slightly repetative but much better and more serious than Ghost Rush. In 1994 its probley the best RPG graphicaly speaking, but in todays worlds of PS3 and Xbox it does look a bit arachic (sp).
I will be posting a full FAQ on Don Quixote soon with Maps, Locations of Items and a general checklist of what you need to do. (Some is very confusing and takes a lot of time to figure stuff out). Not thats i'm complaining...its actualy a very competent game!!
